Swedish Heart Attack Study Simulation

If the normal daily variation is as large as the variation across Daylight Savings Time changes, then the dip and rise in heart attacks may be hard to see in any given year. But averaging the heart attack rate over several years will reveal the pattern. That is what this simulation does.

The top chart is the typical annual heart attack rate in Swedish hospitals (simulated). The bottom chart is the running average over the years the simulation has run through so far.

As time goes on the rise in heart attacks during the change to Daylight Savings Time becomes more apparent as does the drop in heart attacks during the change to Standard Time.

Refreshing this page will restart the simulation.
